Benny H. Marris

Coal Township, PA/Madison-Benny H. Marris,61, a lifetime resident of Madison, and more recently of Coal Township, PA, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, following a prolonged illness.

He was born on March 29, 1964, the son of the late Harry A. Marris Jr., at Faxton Hospital in Utica.  Benny grew up locally and had worked on numerous local farms.  He was also a trained logger and enjoyed working in the woodlands logging. He loved the beauty of nature and was an avid hunter and fisherman.  Benny kept his life simple with as less complications.  Benny loved amusement parks and thoroughly enjoyed any roller coaster, and the scarier, the better. He always found time to have a cold beer with his dad, Harry.  He was always present at any family gatherings, enjoying his family and great food at any family picnic.  Prior to illness, Benny worked hard, live life to the fullest, and live his life on own terms.   There is comfort in Benny’s passing, knowing that he is at peace, and is at home in the Lord’s Heaven.

Benny is survived by his children: Justin Marris, Darin Marris, and their wives; a daughter Kayla Marris; his grandchildren; his brother John Marris of Hamilton; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Benny is also survived by his sister Penny Marris of Oriskany Falls.  Since childhood, they shared a special loving and caring bond as brother and sister. Benny is also survived by his cat Bubba, whom he loved and for cared deeply.

Penny would like to give a special thank you to Benny’s caregiver, Sandy Forbes.  Your kindness and compassion for Benny will never be forgotten; and John Scaneweak, thank you for being such a caring landlord and good friend to Benny.

In keeping with Benny’s wishes, a private visitation was held with the Pastor Clearance Hafelin providing spiritual prayers and pastoral support.  Cremation did follow at the Waterville Crematorium.    There will be a memorial service for Benny to be held at the Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Oriskany Falls, on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 12:30 PM.   Compassionate and  personal care is being provided to Benny and his family by Jeffrey T.
