Anita M. PeckhamMadison-Anita M. Peckham, 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 10, 2017, with the love and support of her family, at the Siegenthaler Hospice Center. She was born on January 10, 1921, in St. Lazare, Canada, the daughter of the late Bernard and Marguerite Martel. Anita was raised in the Oriskany Falls and Madison. She was a graduate of Madison High School. On December 11, 1938, she married her childhood sweetheart, Roger Peckham. There loving union lasted 65 years, until Roger's passing in 2003. First and foremost, Anita was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who stayed at home to care for her family and assisted her husband with the family farm. She was the oldest member of the Madison United Methodist Church and a member of the Madison United Methodist Women. Anita was also a Sunday School teacher. Anita was the owner of Cotton Corners. She had served as a Town of Madison Historian and Assistant Town Clerk of Madison. Anita was an avid seamstress, quilter and artist.Anita is survived by her children, Jack and his wife Geralyn Peckham, Peter Peckham, and Tom and his wife, Barbara Peckham; daughter-in-law, Sharon Peckham, all of Madison; her sister, Lucy Boratyn, of Madison; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews and Canadian cousins also survive Anita.She was predeceased by her parents, Bernard and Marguerite, her beloved husband Roger, her cherished son, James, her beloved daughter, Susan, and her brothers, Robert and Paul. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 14, at 3pm, at the Madison United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Gary Spraker. Interment will be in Madison Village Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the church from 1-3 PM prior to the service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Paul Funeral Home of Madison.
