Alton F. Plows Sr.
Brookfield-Alton F. Plows Sr., 83, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at the Crouse Community Center.
Alton was born in Sharon, CT, on January 30, 1941, the son of the late Edward and Myrtle Evans Plows. At a young age, his family moved to Brookfield, and Alton was raised on the family farm.
A man who worked with his hands, Alton had worked at SEARS as an appliance repairman. In later years, he worked with his family in their carpentry and construction business. In retirement for the last 23 years, Alton remained busy, living life simply, but on his own terms. He would always be there, no matter the situation, asking for nothing in return but the satisfaction of helping others. His love knew no boundaries for his children and grandchildren. His love extended to many foster children that Alton helped raise to adulthood. He had many activities he enjoyed, including hunting, cards, shuffleboard, camping, any trip that would take you anywhere, any family gathering no matter the occasion, and just waking up in the morning and living life to the fullest. His presence will be missed, but he leaves behind a legacy of wisdom, but most of all, love.
He is survived by his children: Donna (Bill) Mellor of Bastrop, TX, Alton Plows Jr of Leonardville, Mike (Tammy) Plows of Brookfield, Lynn (Sam) Timian of Waterville, Jerry (Carrie) Plows of New York Mills; his siblings: Sid (Ruth)Plows, John (Thelma) Plows, Bob (Deb) Plows, and George (Hope) Plows. Alton was blessed with a flock of grand kids, great grandkids, and great-great grandkids. Alton was also blessed with numerous nieces and nephews and close friends.
Alton was predeceased by his parents Ed and Myrtle; his son Doug Plows, his brother Charles Plows, his brother and sister-in-law Jim and Evelyn Plows, and his sister Shirley Witchley.
