Obituary for Joyce M. Holic

Joyce M. Holic
Waterville-Joyce M. Holic, 79, passed away peacefully and comfortably at her home, with the love and support of her family, on Thursday, July 30, 2020.
She was born in Utica on July 26, 1941, the daughter of the late Donald and Josephine Tuhoski Olmstead. Joyce was raised in Oriskany Falls and attended Oriskany Falls High School. Joyce transferred and graduated from Madison Central School. She furthered her education by earning a degree from Central City Business Institute. Joyce began her career working as an Administrative Assistant at Colgate University. She later went on to work for the former Oneida National Bank and its successors. Joyce worked 28 years and made many close friends at the Waterville Bank. She continued in the banking industry for ten more years, retiring from the Utica District Telephone Credit Union. During this journey, Joyce met, and on May 6, 1961, married her soul-mate, and love of her life, Paul Holic, Jr. Together, they made Waterville their home, and were devoted to their two children, Kimberly and Paul Michael. Many a Fall trip was taken, and wonderful memories were made, during their numerous trips to Myrtle Beach. Joyce always looked forward to summer, for the fun and friendship at their, “second home,” Scenic View Camp Ground in West Winfield. Joyce enjoyed bowling, and in her later years, was an avid Bingo Player and games of chance. Joyce also deeply supported her church, the Waterville United Methodist Church. Her warm smile and her caring ways will be remembered by many. Joyce’s family deeply mourn her passing because of her compassionate love, as a wife, a mother, and a grandmother.
Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Paul Holic, Jr.; her daughter, Kimberly Holic of Waterville; her son Paul Michael Holic, and his wife Kim Young of Clinton; her beloved grandchildren: Cassandra Holic McGee, Jon McGee. Rebecca Reeves, Mike Reeves, Brittany McConnell, and John McConnell; her adored and beloved great grandchildren: Camerin Donahue, Mollie Reeves and Walker McConnell; her grand puppy Ruger McGee; her brothers Richard (Helen) Olmstead of Waterville, Joseph (Rose) Olmstead of Fairport, AL, Donald (Julie) Olmstead of Waterville; brother-in-law Bob Holic of Sangerfield and sister in law Anne Wagner of York, PA; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Joyce is also survived by numerous close friends, including Jamie and Carol Christian, and Hoyt Kelly.
Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Josephine.
