Obituary for Bruce J. Gribneau

Bruce J. Gribneau

Bruce J Gribneau, 77, of Inlet, NY passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8, with his loving family by his side.

He was born on October 5, 1942, the son of Clayton A. Sr and Gertrude Gribneau. Bruce was a 1961 graduate of both Inlet Common School, and Town of Webb. He briefly attended Morrisville State on a baseball scholarship, before enlisting and serving 4 years in the United States Army. While stationed in Germany, he met the love of his life, Christa Linau. They were married on July 1, 1966, and would have been married 54 years this summer. Together Bruce and Christa owned and operated Adirondack Custom Carpets, along with Gribneau’s Getaway. His favorite occupation was being a grandfather, which he took very seriously. It involved lots of squirt gun fights inside the house, arcade games and pizza, ice cream, miniature golf, soccer games, Friday night fish fry, and lots of family time on the lake.
Bruce was a proud and long standing member of the American Legion (Post #1402) and enjoyed the time he spent with fellow members.
Bruce was proud to be an Adirondack native and loved the community and the people in it very much. Although he had traveled extensively, he found there was no place in the world quite like home on his beloved Sixth Lake. He passed on his love of Sixth Lake to his daughter and grandchildren, where his legacy will always live on.

Bruce is survived by his wife Christa, his daughter Sabrina and son in law Thomas Nedell, grandchildren Maddie Nedell and Carson Nedell, his twin brother Brian (Lois) Gribneau, his siblings Adelaide ’Gigi’ Harvey, David Gribneau (Richard Nock), and Gertrude ‘Trudy’ (Steve) Cofchin, his sisters-in-law Barb Gribneau, Astrid Turner, Erika (Wolfgang) Schmitt, brother-in-law Harry Piskun, and his nephew Larry Harvey who was like a son, along with many nieces and nephews who he loved very much.

Bruce was predeceased by his parents Clayton ‘Clayt’ and Gertrude ‘Gert’ Gribneau, his in-laws Hans and Elfriede Linau, sisters Kathleen ‘Kaye’ Ryan and Virginia ‘Ginny’ Gribneau, his brother Clayton ‘Bud’ Gribneau, sister-in-law Helga Piskun, and brothers-in-law Franz Turner, James ‘Jim’ Ryan, and William ‘Bill’ Harvey.

The family would like to express their gratitude to:
The Inlet Ambulance, MVHS Dialysis Center- Faxton, The American Legion, Paul Funeral Home, Bruce’s nurses Katie and Mike in St Elizabeth’s ICU, and the Inlet and Old Forge communities for all of their love and support.

A celebration of Bruce’s life will be announced at a later date. All that loved Bruce are welcome to attend.

A memorial scholarship is being arranged in Bruce’s name to benefit a future graduating senior from the Town of Webb school district. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation. More information will be available once our world gets back to normal.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Paul Funeral Home of Madison. A complete obituary will appear as soon as possible. To offer a condolence or share a memory, please visit: paulfuneralhome .net
