Sharon E. Buyea Bassett
Madison-Sharon Bassett, 79, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 21, 2024, with her loving children by her side.
She was born in Sangerfield, on January 17, 1945, the daughter of Earl and Bessie (Cole) Buyea. Sharon attended school in Sherburne and upon graduation attended the Utica School of Commerce. Sharon received her associate degree from SUNY Morrisville. She worked at SUNY Morrisville for several years from which she retired.
On February 4, 1967, Sharon married the love of her life and lifelong companion, Stanley R. (Dick) Bassett. Together they raised three children, experienced adventure, laughs, love, fun, illness, and death. Sharon enjoyed watching NASCAR, reading, and motorcycling. Most of all, she loved any precious moment that she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Sharon leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law Linnette and Leon Jr. (Bummer) Metz, her daughter Shannon Wiley and her partner Michael Godfrey, and her son and daughter-in-law Lance and Leslie Bassett, all of Oriskany Falls. Her loving grandchildren Sarah (Stephen), Brett (Jennah), Kaylee, Heather (Geoff), Heather (Kyle), Shawn (Haley), Dalton (Kristen), Reno (Sheyanne), and Kelly (Ryan). Her precious great grandchildren Jasmyne, Darin, Jaxon, Blake, Brock, Brayden, Liam, Logan, Everly, Paisley, and Kinsley. Her sisters Donna and Sherilyn, her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Earl and Bessie, her loving husband Dick, her sister Jean, and her two brothers Robert and Curtis, and her beloved grandson Bradley.
